Pupils and staff are celebrating the best-ever results at a Scunthorpe Primary.
Willoughby Road Primary Academy has seen numbers meeting the expected standard in reading, writing and maths rise by 23% over the past 12 months.
A total of 58% achieved the standard in their Key Stage 2 SATs in May, results released by the Department for Education earlier in July. This is a 43% increase on those reaching the standard two years ago.
Head of Academy Elaine Jupp has overseen the turnaround since her arrival in January, 2016, boosted later that year, by its new-look sponsor Delta Academies Trust.
“We are all very, very proud of all of our children at Willoughby Road Primary Academy,” she said.
“They have worked extremely hard to gain these amazing, best-ever results.
“These results don’t just happen overnight and come as a result of a dedicated and hard-working staff team.
“The care and support the children receive from Delta and the Willoughby Road staff, prepares them for the next stage of their education. Well done everyone!”
Delta’s Chief Executive Officer Paul Tarn congratulated staff and pupils.
“The remarkable turnaround at Willoughby Road Primary over the past two years has been made possible by hard work from pupils and staff, combined with strong leadership,” he said.
“Everybody is aware work remains to be done but this is an academy that is moving at pace in the right direction, supporting each and every child.”
